I bought this phone for my husband and he loves it. He can surf internet in full browser for free with any WiFi hotspot and wireless network in my home. The phone is very fast and very responsive. Also there is plenty of JAVA apps which he can download and install on this phone. The seller also included internet and MMS setting for AT&T and T-Mobile which after successfully setup following the instruction now he can surf internet everywhere. The phone is very thin and came with a leather case so it was easy to carry around.

Now all his friends wants one too.

A lot of reviews on the web have rated this phone pretty low (like Engadget) which I think is extremely unfair because they're comparing the capabilities of this phone to other high end Smart Phones like the iPhone, Droid or Nexus One. If you take the approach that this phone isn't meant to compete directly with the latest Android, iPhone, or Blackberry phones, you'll find that the Nokia Nuron fits in nicely and affordably between your basic call and text only phone and the high end phones mentioned above. There's a lot to like -

First, the price. The main appeal of the Nuron is that it's far cheaper on or off contract then other smart phones. From T-Mobile it's .99 or 9.99, and even better if you're buying from Amazon where the phone is only 1 penny. In addition, unlike your Blackberry, Android, or Windows Mobile data plans that run you , the Nuron is able to take advantage of the web2go plan. Not only does this mean a lower cost of entry, but also a lower cost of total ownership. Over a 2 year contract, that's a savings of 0 which is pretty significant, for a phone that gives you much of the same capabilities as those other options.

All of the major capabilities of a smart phone are here, including internet access and real web browsing (including the ability to run Flash), receive email, a 3G connection, built in free GPS, and a number of applications available for free or purchase from Nokia and other sites online. Having used the phone for a few days, for a casual user that doesn't need constant email and web access or a gigantic touch screen display, the Nokia fits great and all of these features have worked as well as I expected.

There are some minor cons with the phone though. For one, the low price comes at a cost of a better camera and the lack of WiFi. The camera is disappointing, because Nokia has the model 5800 series that has a 3.2 MP camera with flash, while the 5230/Nuron only has a 2 MP camera and no flash. For those who are hoping for something better to take pictures with, this certainly won't replace your point and click digital camera. The lack of WiFi isn't a big deal for me, only because I don't really need regular data access and I live in an area where 3G is available readily. I don't have any complaints, but for those that want to sit in a coffee shop and connect wirelessly on their as the lounge around, it might be an issue.

The other minor quirks are probably due to the fairly old OS that the Nuron runs off. The Symbian S60 V5 is fairly old, and has seen numerous revisions as it adapted to touch screen displays, meaning it isn't quite as responsive as the operating systems built from the ground up like the iPhone or Android. Still, I had no issues using the touch screen, and it felt very responsive and dialing or texting was accurate. I have some small quirks with the accelerometer when tilting the phone for landscape view, but the complaints i've seen online about having a resistive touch screen versus capacitive haven't really been apparent to me. I've been able to navigate the phone with ease, having made calls and sent texts with very few mistakes due to the touch screen.

All in all, obviously an iPhone or Nexus One user wouldn't revert back to something like this, but for someone looking for a cheap phone for some basic web access, GPS for maps and directions, and checking email or IM's, this phone fits the need very well at a low cost. I really can't complain, especially given the big savings in data plans alone.

This is my first touch screen nokia phone and i've had it for 2 days. The screen is nice and bright although viewing it outside in sunlight is washed out. The touch screen is responsive and you have to put pressure when pressing for it to accept but you get a feedback buzz of sorts to let you know that you pressed a button. The screen only measures about 3.2 inches so it's a bit small for the gps function. The main selling point for this phone is the gps function. Unlike the telnav program which costs money, the ovi maps by nokia are free and free for the life of the phone. You can download the map updates and other countries too for free. If you didn't buy the unlimited web package, then turn the gps-internet connection off. The gps functions work without it since it is built to be a standalone gps that also happens to be a phone. At this moment the computer map transfer to the phone is not supported which is a pain since you need to then use the data connection to download and update maps. I'm sure they are working on it. The nokia ovi app store is small but nice. It's not as developed as apple or others since its new. There are many free apps as well as paid ones. With the nokia ovi site, you can back up your contacts, calendar and files. The user interface in the main menu might be confusing to someone who may not have used the symbian interface before. You could say it's not easily intuitive but it makes sense. Some functions require a double tap while other require a single tap to open things. Also some pages you can scroll by touching anywhere on the screen while some have to touch the scroll bar on the side to scroll which is annoying. There is an accelerometer in the phone so you can type qwerty in landscape which makes entering text easy. I have larger woman's hands and thicker fingers and I can 95% of the time type on the screen correctly. I've also never used a touch screen device until now too. The only page that won't go into the landscape mode is the home page. The voice and sound quality is very nice although when at the max volume on speaker it gets cracky and tinny. There is a media button atop the right side of the phone which gives quick access to the radio, music player and image gallery. The 2.0 mp camera is okay. It should be higher but for the price of the phone it's not bad. The pictures come out pretty decent and it also shoots video. The regular signal bars are almost at full and I live in 3G zones: boston. However having said that, the aquisition of the 3G is not as often as one would expect. In downloading something the other night, it ran with edge instead of 3G most of the time. That is much slower than 3G. So hopefully there would be some sort of update to the phone or network for this problem. The overall design of the phone is comfortable in the hand. Larger men's hands may find it too small. The phone angles back towards a v shape making very comfortable to hold. It's lightweight and fairly well constructed and fits in my jeans pocket. There is a lock screen button on the side to keep from butt-dailing. Overall this is a nice phone for someone looking for a touchscreen, music player, camera, international and gps for cheap. It is worth the few dollars to buy this phone.

***I purchased my kit from zeetron, one of three amazon sellers offering this product since it's soldout.

All you need to repair your cracked glass is shipped with this order as shown in the image. I like the various tools they provide, such as the screwdrivers, suction cup, etc. The video instructions are very clear and helpful, it is totally possible to repair your own glass instead of spending a whole fortune on it. I want to say it is a breeze, although there were moments when I was really afraid I'd wreck something. This task probably feels more comfortable to the handy sort out there.

A couple warnings...

(1) If your glass is anywhere as cracked as mine, it will take some effort to remove it from the frame. Lots of heat application and patience is key. Also, please take care in handling the glass. Although I was lucky, I could easily see someone slip and cut themselves pretty deeply. A tweezer would come in handy.

(2) It is not mentioned in the video, but some parts of your iphone are taped over by a sticky black film. I suppose this is to prevent tampering. You'll have to remove it to fix the glass, but doing so voids your warranty.

(3) Before you snap the lcd back onto the new glass, be super careful about letting any dust trap between the two... otherwise you'll end up with annoying lint like I did.

(4) The screen protector they offer has this mirror finish... which I find a little irritating. I also have a hunch it desensitizes the sensor that detects whether you've got the phone held up to your ear.

(5) It took a couple tries for me to put the phone back together. The first time, my earpiece wasn't working. The second time, my LCD wouldn't turn on. Third time was a charm, I made sure everything was securely plugged in.

My daughter accidentally knocked my wife's iPhone 3G from the kitchen counter onto the tile floor. The glass digitizer was immediately shattered. I did some research on the web and found many replacement digitizer kits (as well as several generally more expensive replacement services). I really didn't know what to expect from these replacement services, so I was a bit reluctant to spend the extra money (not to mention mailing away an expensive piece of electronics to an unknown destination). So I started looking more seriously at buying a kit and doing the replacement myself. This digitizer replacement kit from Zeetron was one of the most reasonably priced kits I could find, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

Overall, I had a very good experience with this product. The shipping was prompt and the supplied tools were more than enough to complete the task of opening up the iPhone, removing the digitizer and LCD, disconnecting the digitizer from the LCD and eventually replacing the digitizer. Having the included tools was very helpful! I have a lot of tools at my house, but I wouldn't have had the necessary tools on hand if they had not been included in the kit.

Many of the reviewers of this product commented on the difficulty of the task. Don't let them scare you off. Sure, it's not as simple as changing a lightbulb or replacing the batteries in a toy, but it's not that difficult either. If you're at all handy and have some time and patience, this is a good way to replace a cracked digitizer while saving some money.

I followed along with the instructional video on Zeetron's site. It's adequate to guide you through the essentials of performing the replacement, but their video has some shortcomings. There are many such videos on YouTube and other sites. I actually watched a couple of others to fill in some of the gaps inherent in Zeetron's video. Here are a couple of tips:

1) First off, make sure you have the time to sit down and get all the way through the process without disruption. Even though most of the instructional videos on the web are 10 minutes or so in length, it took me almost 2 hours when all was said and done. If you have kids, wait until they go to bed (if your kids are anything like mine, they'll be fascinated by the guts of an iPhone, but trust me this is not a place for peanut butter and jelly covered fingers).

2) Watch the video(s) all the way through before doing anything. It's worth 10-15 minutes of your time to get an idea of the entire process end-to-end before you jump in.

3) Make sure you're in a well-lit area and that you have enough space to lay out all your tools and various parts of the phone as you take it apart. I'd recommend a small dish or shallow cup that you can use to hold the almost microscopic screws as you remove them from the phone.

4) The Zeetron video does a pretty good job getting you to the point where you're able to pull the digitizer/LCD assembly out of the case (using the included suction cup), but it doesn't really show you up close the connections between the digitizer/LCD assembly and the board in the case. There are 3 numbered wire connections that you'll need to successfully disconnect before you can completely remove the digitizer/LCD assembly from the phone case. I looked elsewhere on the web and found other videos that detail these 3 connections up close. If you've never opened up an iPhone before (as I never had), a little research to familiarize yourself with these connections is well worth your time.

5) There is a step that requires you to separate the (damaged) digitizer from the frame that holds it to the LCD. Keep in mind that you need to reuse your phone's existing frame (a replacement frame is not included in the kit). The video shows the use of a hair dryer to heat up the glass on the damaged digitizer, thus melting the adhesive and allowing for the forced separation of the digitizer from the frame. This process took me MUCH longer than is shown in the video and was definitely the most difficult part of the process. Be patient. Just keep heating and reheating. Eventually you will be able to separate the glass and the frame. Be careful not to burn your fingers - the glass and metal get very hot! The plastic on my frame was pretty seriously curved from the heat by the time I completely separated it from the glass. I thought I may have botched it. Don't worry if this happens to you. You'll be able to bend it back. You many need to heat up the plastic portion of the frame again before adhering it to the new digitizer in order to get it malleable enough to lay flat against the new digitizer. This worked for me.

6) When you go to attach the new replacement digitizer to the existing frame, you'll need to remove all 3 pieces of plastic film from the underside of the digitizer. The guy in the Zeetron video just mentions removing the 2 at the top and bottom. If you watch the video closely you'll notice there is a note that mentions you need to remove the 3rd film from the underside of the glass before attaching it to the frame. (You can leave the film on the top of the glass on there until you're completely done and have the phone put back together).

7) If your experience is anything like mine, your frame will likely be a little beat up from the process of removing the damaged digitizer. It will likely require some effort (and possibly more heat) to get it to adhere properly to the replacement digitizer. It's not incredibly difficult, but you're certain to get fingerprints on the underside of the new glass digitizer in the process. This is critical: once you've attached the new digitizer to the frame, make sure you thoroughly clean the underside of the glass digitizer before attaching the digitizer/frame to the LCD. If you don't, you're fingerprints will show up under the glass and you won't be able to clean them.

Be careful when handling the frame. It contains the phone's "home button". It's very fragile and (from what I understand) is one of the most common gotchas of doing this replacement yourself. You're going to be bummed out if you go through this whole process and get your phone put back together only to find out that the home button no longer works.

If you can be patient and attentive to details, just about anyone can complete this replacement themselves. The quality of the replacement digitizer is on par with the original - once I was all done and got the phone put back together the new digitizer was indistinguishable from the original (prior to being shatter, of course). I told my wife to be careful with the phone because I'm not looking forward to doing this replacement again anytime soon, but I'm glad I went this route and saved the money. Good luck!

Apple charges $[...] to replace a shattered screen so a savings of over 75% is a worthwhile DIY shot. This kit does give you all of the tools you'll need (although the suction cup is useless), but the instructions that come with it have little value. [...] has a number of video tutorials and the best I've found is this one: [...] .

It took me about 3 and half hours to make the repairs. The most time consuming part is removing the broken glass as this requires the use of a hair dryer on a very hot setting to melt the glue and a very sharp/thin knife or Xacto blade to dislodge the glass shards from the frame. The most tedious part is inserting the #1 connector from the display to the motherboard. The connector is about 1/4" in width and it's in a difficult location to work in. To be successful, you need patience, a good work area with plenty of light, good eyesight, and a steady hand. Did I mention patience??

You don't need to be a technology guru to tackle this project, but you do need to take your time and work carefully as you'll be dealing with broken glass, sharp tools, and very tiny connectors. There are different kits for the various iPhone vintages, so be sure you get the right one.

I give it four stars because my iPhone is working perfectly again for about 80% less than exchanging for a new unit at the apple store.. But I agree with the other reviewers that many things can go wrong.

It was really cool to take the iPhone apart and see the remarkably tiny components and connectors that make it work. It was even cooler when I got it working again.

I read the directions carefully, including the advice to test it before peeling the paper off of the permanent adhesive. Only on my fourth time reassembling the phone did I have everything perfect. So I took it apart one more time, peeled the adhesive, and permanently put it back together. Works like new.

I suppose there was about a 30% chance that I would break something and be unable to get it working again. If that had happened I would have given fewer stars and paid Apple 0 to trade my broken unit for a new one. I would have paid or so to play with the insides of an iPhone.

I'm also investing in a better protective cover so it doesn't get broken again!

PS. I found that a pair of tweezers was very helpful for re-inserting one of the ribbon cables. Just make sure to put them back when you are done or your wife will be mad at you (like mine was).

I've had this phone for about four months now. It has really been convenient for me to utilise my two lines without carrying around two phones.

I have experienced two major problems

1. People constantly complain about not being able to hear me.

2. I keep putting people on hold once the phone presses on my face. Apparently, the hold function is the first option during a call. I find myself doing this and after seconds of silence when I check the phone I will see that the call has been placed on hold.

Otherwise, a minor complaint can be that the phone cannot go on speaker unless the call has been answered.

Overall, the phone is a good phone. Could have been excellent if not for the two major problems mentioned above.

The phone works. I agree with the other reviewer,

1. sometimes when I am on the phone it puts the call on hold and I am not aware and have to go back to "retrieve" the call.

2. The speaker only comes on AFTER the call has made a connection

My problem is that the charger is very delicate and although I bought my phone in December 2009, the charger connection to the phone has already broken. It makes and receives calls from 2 different phone companies but it is very delicate.

I got it from AT&T on day 1. One word... Awesome

I am in love with webos now. It lets you do so much with the device. I was able to install all the apps that i need in no time at all. [...] is a good place to start.

One primary reason I went with this phone is the openness of the OS. You are no longer tied to a specific program or computer to manipulate the data.

As previous reviewer mentioned the errors in phone specs on amazon, check it on palm's website to make an informed decision.

Oh and that touchstone charging is out of this world. I got 2 touchstones (19.97 each with touchstone back cover) from radioshack. Try it and you will never want to charge it in the conventional way.
